from autumn inspiration to hoodie

Behind the scenes: Miss Sara

Every Miss Sara hoodie starts the same way: with a date on the calendar. Before there is a sketch, a color, or a single line of artwork, there is a season we are looking forward to. This is the story of how a feeling about a time of year turns into the print on your back.

It starts with the season

Our collections follow the calendar. The first cool morning of fall, the week the pumpkins show up on every porch, the quiet stretch before the winter holidays: these are the moments we design for. A season already comes with its own colors, its own mood, and its own little rituals, and we want each design to feel like it belongs to that moment.

That is why our Halloween collection came first this fall. Halloween is playful and a little spooky at the same time, and it gives us permission to be bolder than we would be the rest of the year.

From idea to artwork

Once we know the mood we are after, we start collecting ideas: shapes, color combinations, and small details that say “this season” without shouting it. Then the real work begins.

We are open about how we work. We use AI image tools to explore a lot of directions quickly, the way a designer might fill a page with rough thumbnails. Most of those experiments never leave the folder. The few that have something special move into design software, where we rework them by hand: cleaning up lines, adjusting colors so they hold up on fabric, fixing proportions, and rebuilding anything that does not look right.

AI helps us get to a starting point faster. Choosing what is worth keeping, and refining it until it is good enough to wear, is still a human job.

Why the back?

Most of our designs live on the back of the hoodie. A back print gives the artwork room to breathe: a large canvas, uninterrupted by a zipper or a pocket. It also keeps the front clean and easy to style, so the hoodie works with a jacket over it and still makes a statement when you walk away.

Testing it on the garment

A design that looks great on a screen does not always look great on a hoodie. Before anything goes into the store, we place the artwork on the garment and check the things that matter in real life: Is it the right size on the back? Do the colors still read against the fabric color? Is the detail fine enough to be interesting but bold enough to see from a few steps away? If the answer is no, the design goes back for another round.

Printed when you order

We print our hoodies on the Gildan 18500, a heavy blend pullover that has earned its reputation as a dependable, comfortable everyday hoodie. Each piece is printed to order, which means we are not sitting on boxes of unsold stock. It lets us release seasonal designs without waste, and it means your hoodie is made for you.

What comes next

As the calendar turns, so do we. New seasonal designs are already in progress, and each one will go through the same steps: a season, an idea, a lot of experiments, and careful refining until it is ready.
